I love what I do, even if I do entirely too much!

In addition to writing for clients, my own websites, and Suite101, I am also a full-time eighth grade language arts teacher. I’ve spent five years (thus far) in the classroom teaching sixth, seventh and eighth grade. I’ve taught both language arts and math, but am also certified in social studies, science and ESL. Before teaching, I dabbled in business consulting and accounting as well.

As an active member of the faculty at my campus, I’m involved in a number of committees on discipline approaches, technological grants and studies, and even innovative teaching strategies. I recently won a grant for a Masters of Library Science and will be completing that degree in the summer of 2007.

When the away-from-home workday is complete, I head home to my husband of six years and my toddler. We spend as much time together as a family as possible, and when the little one goes to bed, Mama goes to work again – this time on the computer. I spend evenings writing about things I know and love: education, teenagers, pregnancy, and parenting.

Fortunately, my husband is not neglected as he sits next to me working away on his websites. He is a webmaster and does a great deal of site development and marketing. I’ve learned a lot about those aspects of online work as well.

I love it all, although I wish there were just a few more hours in the day. Oh, and did I mention I’m expecting baby boy #2 in July? A mother’s work is never done!
